RUTLAND TOWN BOARD OF SCHOOL DIRECTORS MEETING

Regular Meeting       

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

OPEN:  Chairman Stacy Chapman opened the meeting at 6:34 pm.

PRESENT:  In attendance were Board members; Marc Brierre, Stacy Chapman, Lyn Gallipo, Jim Levins and Jim Wright.  Also in attendance were Superintendant Wendy Savery, Principal Pati Beaumont, Asst. Principal Larry Sims, teacher and residents.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:  Lyn made a motion to go into Executive Session per 1 VSA, Section 313; personnel.  Jim Wright seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously at 6:35 pm.   Executive Session was declared over at 7:25 pm.

MOTION:  Lyn made a motion to offer the Long Term Substitute teaching position in 4^th grade to Jessica Furman.  Jim Wright seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

CONSENT AGENDA:   

Director's Orders:  All Directors' Orders were signed as presented.

Minutes:  The minutes of September 29^th were adopted as written.

Committee Reports: None

Correspondence:  The Board received letters from Dave and Julie Charnock and Mary Nickerson.

PUBLIC Questions & Comments:  None

TEACHER/STAFF Comments:   It was reported that staff is on board with all the changes. 

Music Program - Weston Opera will hear the singers from Rutland Town.  There are 25 students attending October 25^th.  The students will be singing to Master Teachers and will receive critiques.  The Friends of Music are sponsoring the event.

ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: 

• NECAP Testing - Is being done this week.
• Roof Project - Several areas are being held until the completion of the testing due to noise.
• Kindergarten - The full time Aide is in place.
• FACS Position - Mark made a motion to hire Antoinette Peterson for the 50% FTE Family & Consumer Science teaching position.  Jim Levins seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
• Contracts - Jim Levins made a motion to sign the full time Instructional Aide position of Deborah Wright and the Athletic Directors’ contract of Mike Rowe. Jim Wright seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
• Negotiations - Attorney John Faignant is contacting Shaun Leach to set up the next session.

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT:   Negotiations - Attorney John Faignant is contacting Shaun Leach to set

          up the next session.

OTHER:  Goal Setting Meeting - Tuesday October 27^th at the South Station to start at 6:30pm

• Lyn made a motion to change the starting time for Board meetings from 7:00 pm to 6:30 pm.  Jim Levins seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

                   Thursday - RCSU Meeting - October 15^th @ RTS at 6:30 pm

EXECUTIVE SESSION:   Lyn made a motion to go into Executive Session per 1 VSA, Section

313; personnel.  Marc seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously at 8:55 pm.  

Executive Session was declared over at  9:30 pm.

ADJOURNMENT:   The meeting was duly adjourned at  9:31 pm.
