RUTLAND TOWN BOARD OF = SCHOOL=20 DIRECTORS MEETING

 

     =20 Special Pre = Town=20 Meeting       

Tuesday, January 25,=20 2010

 

OPEN:  Town Moderator = Leah Adams=20 opened the Public Meeting at 7:00 pm with the Pledge of=20 Allegiance.

 

PRESENT:  In attendance = were: Board=20 members Marc Brierre, Stacy Chapman, Lyn Gallipo, Jim Levins and Jim=20 Wright.  Also in attendance were Superintendant Wendy Savery, = Principal=20 Pati Beaumont, Asst. Principal Larry Sims, Director of Special = Education Pam=20 Reed, Business Manager Cheryl Scarzello, teachers and approximately = forty five=20 residents.

 

2010-2011 Rutland Town = School=20 Budget:

 Chairman Stacy = Chapman spoke=20 on the proposed budget.  The 2010-2011 Budget is=20 $7,453,191

compared to the = 2009-2010 budget=20 of $7,553,264.  This is a reduction of $100,073.15 or a 1.32%=20 decrease.  

 =20 Stacy also spoke on Teacher negotiations briefly before turning the = meeting=20 over to Principal Pati Beaumont.  Pati spoke on enrollment.  = RT has=20 had an increased enrollment for the past four years.

Some=20 student achievements were discussed (Sports, Music, NECap scores,=20 etc)

   = Superintendent Savery=20 talked on the tax rate calculations.  The state has increased the = base=20 tax rate from $.86 to $.882.   The CLA is 99.06% with a = Homestead=20 tax rate of $1.2899 for a tax rate increase of .072%.   RT = is within=20 the Act 82 thereshold (ed spending per equalized pupil), so this Act = will not=20 apply.  $125,000 of the previous year=92s surplus has been used = to reduce=20 property taxes for 2010-2011.

    = Capital Project=20 Fund:  The school board will be asking voters to approve spending = of up=20 to $30,000 from the existing fund for improvements in the main office = and=20 expansion of the computer room.

 

RECESSED:   The School = Board=20 recessed their portion of the meeting at 7:58 pm

 

REOPEN:  The meeting was = reconvened=20 at 8:10 pm in the Library.

 

MOTION:   Lyn = made a=20 motion to sign the Town of Rutland School District Warning. =20

Article 1

Is=20 asking voters to appropriate the sum of $7,453.191.00 necessary for = the=20 support of its school for the year beginning July 1, = 1010.

Article 2

Shall=20 the voters appropriate the sum of up to $30,000.00 from the Capital=20 Improvement Fund for improvements.

Article 3

Elect=20 other school district officials as required by law.

Marc=20 seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
