Planning Commission Minutes 6-22-2023

TOWN OF RUTLAND PLANNING COMMISSION

MEETING MINUTES

 

DATE: June 22^nd, 2023

LOCATION: Town Hall

OPEN MEETING 6:30 P.M.

 

Commission Members Present: Chair Barbara Pulling, Dana Peterson, Howard Burgess, Sherman Hunter, Andy McKane, and Jim Hall. All members in attendance are voting members for this meeting.

Members of the Public Present:  Ryan Getner

Approval of the Agenda:

Mr. Peterson moved to approve the agenda. Mr. Hunter seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Old Business: Short-Term Rental ordinance update from the June 20^th Select Board Meeting

1. The public had a chance to address the Board with comments and concerns. The Board did not take any action on the ordinance. Many of the same people who attended the Planning Commission meeting were there.
2. Reviewed the discussion and comments from the Board meeting. The Commission is still in favor of the ordinance being adopted.
3. The comments from the public at the Board meeting lacked specifics. There was a request for the Board to do more research but did not say on what specifically. They commented there was too much regulation in the ordinance but did not provide any examples.
4. Discussed various ways, if any, to follow up with the Select Board. Mr. McKane moved to have the Chair write a letter to the Board reiterating the support for the ordinance as written, with an emphasis on the life safety aspect being most important. Mr. Peterson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

New Business: Open Meeting Law presentation

1. Updated guidelines were made available by the Vermont Secretary of State.
2. Reviewed definitions and how various aspects apply to these meetings.

Announcements

Several more vendors have confirmed participation for the Town Wide Celebration.

Fireworks are July 2^nd this year.

Approval of Minutes June 1^st, 2023:

Mr. Peterson moved to approve the minutes. Mr. McKane seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Adjournment:

Mr. Hunter moved to adjourn. Mr. McKane seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 7:51 PM.
