Fire Committee Minutes 11-29-2023
RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
FIRE COMMITTEE
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 29th, 2023
The Fire Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 4:00 PM on Wednesday November 29th, 2023, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Chair Mary Ashcroft and Town Fire Chief Chris Clark.
- Reviewed the updated budget from Chief Clark for the next fiscal year.
- Discussed the updates to the salaries and daytime wages. The increase in the hourly rate is to align with rate the Police Officers are paid.
- The net budget change is up 9%.
2. Discussed the proposal to purchase a new pickup truck.
- The current truck is a 1992 F350.
- Some body work has been done to it to try and extend its life, but the expected future maintenance costs are rising.
- Research into a new truck, using the same vendor the Police did for their new vehicle, was done. A new truck, in red, is not available right away so it will need to be ordered. The lead time was not available.
- McGovern is not part of the state bid system for pricing. The Chief will be contacting the person used to purchase the last truck to get a price.
- The quote from McGovern for the truck was approximately $56,000. Equipment with installation came to approximately $74,000.
- The funds would come from the depreciation account. There is $498,000 in there now.
- If the information is available in time, it will be included for the next Board meeting.
3. Reviewed the replacement schedule.
- The next truck in the schedule is the large utility. The Chief intends to skip this truck and focus on replacing Engine 2 as the next truck.
The meeting adjourned at 4:22 PM.
Respectfully submitted, Bill Sweet
