RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
FINANCE COMMITTEE
TUESDAY JANUARY 9th, 2024
The Police Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 8:00 AM on Tuesday January 9th, 2024, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Chair Mary Ashcroft, Select Board Member Matt Getty, Town Police Chief Ed Dumas, Town Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn, and Town Administrator Bill Sweet
- Discussed a request by the Police to purchase a new hardware firewall system.
- Reviewed quotes received for new hardware and licenses.
- The vendor providing quotes is on the State approved contract list.
- Discussed the sources of funding, which could be the equipment line of the regular budget, or the depreciation account.
- After review, the committee will recommend purchasing a new firewall with a 5-year license, including the 1-day turn around option for a total of $4739.14 with funds to come from the equipment line in the budget.
- Discussed future capital expenses.
- A new cruiser will be needed in the next few years.
- The current taser contract expires in 2 years.
- An updated 5-year plan / equipment replacement schedule is needed.
- The grant funding agreement for public safety building emergency operation center expenses has been executed. Discussed what expenses are related to it. Copies will be provided to Board members.
- Security issues at the Diamond Run Mall have been addressed. The mall owner plans to attend a future Board meeting to talk about the property.
- Discussed how the conditions listed in The Cortina Inn contract have been used.
The meeting adjourned at 8:53 AM.
