RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
PERSONNEL & FINANCE COMMITTEES
TUESDAY MAY 14th, 2024
The Personnel and Finance Committees of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 3:30 PM on Tuesday May 14th, 2024, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Chair Mary Ashcroft, Select Board Member Matt Getty and Town Clerk and Treasurer Kari Clark.
Clerk and Treasurer Kari Clark discussed with the committee the projects, demands and staffing challenges being faced in her office, and some things which could be done to help the situation.
- A third person for the office has not been found yet. Several candidates have been interviewed but haven’t found someone who would be the right fit for the office.
- Discussed options for filling the third position on a temporary basis.
- A pay increase was requested by Ms. Clark. No decision was made.
- Discussed the challenges of maintaining balances in some of the special accounts which are not easily tracked in our current accounting software.
- Discussed challenges around the recent elections and revotes for the school.
- Discussed plans for a third vote for the school budget.
Clerk and Treasurer Kari Clark left the meeting.
Reviewed the draft of a newly proposed comp time policy, a new paid holiday time policy, and changes to the draft personnel policy.
Selectman Getty moved to enter executive session to discuss a personnel matter. Board Chair Ashcroft seconded the motion. The committee entered executive session at 4:54PM.
The committee came out of executive session at 5:33PM.
Discussed the purchase of a trailer for the Transfer Station to put the generator on to allow it to be more easily moved. The trailer cost is approximately $3000. There are sufficient funds in the transfer station maintenance line. Discussed the status of the Transfer Station budget items and expense priorities.
No recommendations to the full Board were suggested.
The meeting adjourned at 5:43 PM.
