RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
POLICE COMMITTEE
JANUARY 6th, 2025
The Police Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 4:00 PM on Monday January 6th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Chair Mary Ashcroft, Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Police Chief Ed Dumas and Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn.
The committee reviewed the vehicle replacement schedule.
- Deputy Chief Washburn and Officer Plakas worked on it.
- The plan is to replace the vehicles with an 8-year cycle.
- This year would see the 2014 Charger replaced, and next year the 2016 Charger would be replaced.
- Another Tahoe would be purchased as a new cruiser. Discussed the possibility of using other types of vehicles considering use, efficiency and consistency.
- There is approximately $41,000 in the Cortina fund which could offset the cost.
- Discussed whether to put out a request for bids for a new cruiser or use a vendor who has a cooperative purchase pricing structure. The committee would like to see the bid specifications.
Reviewed the ballot language for the 2024 budget request. The amount to be raised by taxes was the correct number, accounting for using $150,000 in Cortina Inn funds. Discussed the proposed budget for this year.
Reviewed plans for increased patrols around town. It will be implemented soon.
The meeting adjourned at 5:26 PM.
