RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

RECREATON COMMITTEE

MAY 6^th, 2025

The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 5:00 PM on Tuesday May 6^th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Selectboard Member Sharon Russell, Town Clerk and Treasurer Kari Clark, and Recreation Director Mike Rowe.

Discussed the maintenance employee position for Dewey Field

• The person who has done it in the past is not able to this year.
• Mike has been doing some work there.
• One of the Highway crew members has expressed interest. An understanding of how compensation works between the 2 departments is needed. The committee was not sure if time between the 2 departments is cumulative.
• The committee went into an executive session to discuss a personnel matter.
• The committee came out of executive session with no action recommended.
• Mike Rowe proposed a $25 per hour rate for Rec maintenance with a max of 10 hours per week at Dewey field.
• A new person may need to be hired.
• Clarification from our HR consultant or town counsel is needed to ensure compensation is calculated correctly.

Discussed the options for lifeguard certifications.

• The person who has certified us in the past is not available this year.
• There are other options being worked on for certifying our staff but nothing is firm yet.
• This is likely to affect swim lessons.
• Mike is working very hard to ensure the season goes off as planned.

The senior luncheon went very well at the Public Safety Building.

The next one is May 22^nd in West Rutland.

The meeting adjourned at 5:44 PM.
