RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD REC COMMITTEE MEETING
APRIL 14th, 2026
The Rec Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present were Selectboard Member Sharon Russell, Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Town Rec Director Mike Rowe, and Patrick Bates from Weston and Sampson.
Reviewed a proposal from Weston and Sampson to help develop plans to replace the pool.
- They would come in and do a site evaluation.
- A planning meeting would be scheduled to discuss the scope and the needs to ensure all details are found and addressed.
- A final plan would be developed which could be used for public presentations.
- The process gets us to the point where a decision can be made whether or not to put the project out to bid. The bid development process is a separate initiative.
- The cost to create bid documents is difficult to determine at this point because of the number of unknown variables. Mr. Bates said it would be as much if not more than the cost of developing the plans themselves.
- Discussed the necessity of the optional services.
- Discussed how to present this to the public, using the Town event is a good option.
Discussed maintenance staff plans for Dewey field.
- The 2 people Director Rowe had in mind are not going to be available. Another person may be able to help but not for the full summer.
Some repair work was done to the pool recently on the tiles and may have sealed the leak.
Interviews are being conducted for new lifeguards.
The current pool cover is worn beyond repair.
- Allen Pools measured for a new one.
- The cost is going to be $16,000.
- This will be purchased so it can be installed when the pool closes
Discussed allowing Director Rowe to take the Rec pickup truck home with him.
- It is used during the day. Director Rowe drives to Northwood each day to get it.
- The committee did not have an objection,
The meeting adjourned at 6:04 PM.
Respectfully submitted, Bill Sweet
