RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
POLICE COMMITTEE
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 6TH, 2021
The Police Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 6th at the Rutland Town Municipal Town Hall. Present was Board Chair Mary Ashcroft, Board Member Board Member Sharon Russell, Town Police Chief Ed Dumas, and Town Deputy Chief Ted Washburn
- The committees discussed the 1st Constable position.
- Chief Dumas discussed his past involvement with the role.
- There is a retired officer who is interested in the position.
- Selectwoman Ashcroft asked about the budget for the 1st Constable position.
- The budget includes $11,500.
- None has been spent so far this year.
- Discussed Chief Dumas resigning from this position which could allow the board to appoint a new officer to the position.
- Selectwoman Ashcroft asked about funding for equipment. It could be purchased from the existing 1st Constable budget.
- Discussed what a starting rate would be. $25 per hour was the recommendation.
- Discussed life insurance for the Police Department. No decision was made.
- The committee entered executive session to discuss a personnel matter.
- The committee came out of executive session with no action taken.
With no further business, Selectwoman Russell moved to adjourn. Selectwoman Ashcroft seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 11:35 AM.
