RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

ENERGY COMMITTEE

THURSDAY, APRIL 14th, 2022

The Energy Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard and the Energy Sub-Committee of the Rutland Town Planning Commission met at 9:00AM on Thursday April 14th, 2022, at the Rutland Town Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Member Mary Ashcroft, Planning Commission Chair Barbara Pulling, Planning Commission Member Sherman Hunter, Planning Commission Member Norman Cohen, and Administrative Assistant Bill Sweet. There was a conference call line with a publicly accessible and warned phone number in use.

  • Discussed the basis and contents for an energy survey that is proposed to be sent to town residents.
    1. This is an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts and view on our enhanced energy plan, and town energy goals.
    2. Discussed adding an on-going energy section to The Circle.
    3. Discussed what the information gathered from the survey can be used for. It will mainly be used to tackle the goals outlined in the enhanced energy plan first. It can be used to provide education to the town based on the most popular topics.
    4. Discussed highlighting local businesses who have made energy efficiency improvements.
    5. Discussed coordinating with the Town school to create an energy club at the school. The first step will be to reach out to school administrators with our idea and see where it can fit into their curriculum.
    6. Discussed how to present the survey, how to formulate questions, and how best to collect responses.
    7. Discussed having information and displays at our next Town Wide Celebration.
  • Discussed when the group should meet again.
    1. They will plan to meet again on May 20th, at 9AM.

The meeting adjourned at 9:58AM.

Respectfully submitted, Bill Sweet
