Town Wide Celebration Committee Minutes 4-15-2022
RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
TOWN WIDE CELEBRATION COMMITTEE
FRIDAY, APRIL 15th, 2022
The Town Wide Celebration Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 9:00AM on Friday April 15th, 2022, at the Rutland Town Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Member Mary Ashcroft, Selectboard Member Kurt Hathaway, and Administrative Assistant Bill Sweet. There was a conference call line with a publicly accessible and warned phone number in use.
- We have had to cancel the events for the last 2 years due to the pandemic.
- They had previously been held in late June or early July, but always when the pool was open.
- Events we have had in the past were
- A DJ
- Bounce houses
- Rollover simulator from the Sheriff Department
- Free use of the pool
- Happy Cow Ice Cream
- Grill food
- Fire Department
- National Guard
- Swim up movie
- Discussed if there is enough time to coordinate an event for this year. After some discussion there may not be for this year.
- The budget for the 21- 22 fiscal year had to be used to allow us to have a July 4th fireworks display. The next round of funds would not be available until July 1st, but this could jeopardize planning for an event in 2023.
- Discussed moving the event to September, but it would not be able to include the pool.
- Some new events that could be added are water polo, a chili cook off, corn hole, inviting the boy scouts
- Discussed some possible dates in late August. This will be brought to the full board to discuss.
- We will check with some of the vendors who are harder to schedule first for their availability.
The meeting adjourned at 9:41AM.
Respectfully submitted, Bill Sweet
