RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

ENERGY COMMITTEE

FRIDAY MAY 20th, 2022

The Energy Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard and the Energy Sub-Committee of the Rutland Town Planning Commission met at 9:00AM on Friday May 20th, 2022, at the Rutland Town Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Member Mary Ashcroft, Planning Commission Chair Barbara Pulling, Planning Commission Member Sherman Hunter, Planning Commission Member Norman Cohen, and Administrative Assistant Bill Sweet. There was a conference call line with a publicly accessible and warned phone number in use.

  • Discussed the draft energy survey planned to be sent to town residents.
    1. The different sections of the updated survey were reviewed.
    2. Discussed having someone from Efficiency Vermont attend the Town Wide Celebration to tie into this survey. Discussed inviting other organizations like Neighbor works and GMP
    3. Some changes to the format of the survey were made.
    4. Discussed having paper copies available forth e August Town Wide Celebration versus having a link to the online survey.
    5. Online surveys will be gathered using an established service, such as survey money. An account will need to be established to be able to do this.
    6. An article will be included in The Circle explaining the survey.
  • Discussed presenting the survey, and other energy topics at a booth at the Town Wide Celebration.
    1. Discussed options to call out the Planning Commission and the Energy survey at the celebration. A table and banner would be appropriate.
    2. Discussed having a display of an electric car and / or bike.
  • Discussed the plan for the survey results.
    1. They will help guide the next steps for the community.
  • Discussed the previous discussion around town solar arrays. This plan should be made a priority again to help reduce town energy costs. A survey of town buildings is needed. This could also help to establish EV charging stations.
  • The next meeting will be planned for July 15th at 9AM.
