RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
FINANCE COMMITTEE
OCTOBER 28th, 2025
The Finance Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 9:00 AM on Tuesday October 28th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Chair Mary Ashcroft, Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Town Clerk and Treasurer Kari Clark, Town Police Chief Ed Dumas, Town Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn, Town Police Officer Jimmy Plakas, Town Administrator Bill Sweet, and Town Auditor Andrew Simonds.
Discussed the results of the recent Town Audit related to the use of local option tax and Cortina settlement funds to cover any deficit in the Police budget.
- Reviewed the fund balance report.
- There was a misinterpretation of data initially. This has been corrected in this report.
- The error revolved around assigned property tax funds and money allocated to the police budget from the Cortina settlement fund.
- The audit was adjusted based on the correct accounting of funds from the various funds.
- This will be reviewed at the next Board meeting.
- Added a table to the report to show funds which were expected to come from other funds. This is to allow it to be clearer to voters looking at the reports.
- The remaining Center Rutland Fire station bond and the new public safety building bond need to be included in the budget for the next tax calculations.
The meeting adjourned at 9:49 AM.
