RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
HIGHWAY COMMITTEE
MAY 28th, 2025
The Highway Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 9:00 AM on Wednesday May 28th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Clerk Joe Denardo, Town Road Commissioner Dave Sears, Town Administrator Bill Sweet, and Robert Clark from Otter Creek Engineering.
Discussed the sewer line issue on 7 South. Mr. Clark reviewed the project plans and will have the contract and bid documents sent to us today. The Prebid meeting will be planned for June 10th at 9AM, and the bid opening will be planned for June 26th at 9AM.
Discussed extending the water line on the East side of US 7 South to create a loop connecting to the dead-end line at the Adele Stanley apartment complex. The committee is in favor of this, and the engineer would be willing to work with us but completing the sewer line project is the current priority.
Updates to the Streets and Sidewalk Ordinance are nearly done adding in an excavation portion.
Some recent projects with the City water department have brought up issues with the City water and sewer contract. Alos, there have been some challenges with fire districts being able to comply with State regulations. Discussed the request of a fire district to connect to the city system as a option for mitigating some of their problems.
Discussed changing the name of Diamond Run Mall Place, by removing the word mall from the name. Bill will check with the E-911 coordinator and report at the Board meeting.
