RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
HIGHWAY COMMITTEE
SEPTEMBER 11th, 2025
The Highway Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 9:00 AM on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Selectboard Clerk Joe Denardo, Selectboard Member Kurt Hathaway, Town Road Commissioner Dave Sears, and Town Administrator Bill Sweet.
Discussed the Stratton Road culvert award. We were awarded a grant for up to $200,000. The project will cost more than $500,000. Discussed how the balance could be funded. Discussed if the town could get a better price on the culvert sections if we purchased them rather than having the contractor purchase them. The committee recommended accepting the grant, putting the project out to bid, and determining how best to move forward once the prices are received.
Discussed the purchase of a fuel tank for the Highway Department. Discussed the tax exemption we are eligible for. State taxes are exempted; federal ones are not. Discussed options for location, capacity and fuel types.
Reviewed inventory sheets which are being given to each department to complete.
Several mailboxes needed to be reset on East Pittsford Road due after the repaving to ensure they were properly spaced off the road.
The meeting adjourned at 9:53 AM.
