RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

HIGHWAY COMMITTEE

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 25^th, 2024

The Highway Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 9:00 AM on Wednesday September 25^th, 2024, at the Municipal Town Hall. Select Board Clerk Joe Denardo, Road Commissioner Dave Sears, Derek Kennison from VTrans, Israel Maynard from Stantec, Erik Alling from Stantec, and Steffanie Bourque from the Regional Planning Commission were present.

The full committee discussed the Route 7 North sidewalk project.

1. Reviewed the project workplan and schedule.
2. There is a small part of the project area which is in Rutland City. It may need a separate agreement for this.
3. Discussed having meetings with property owners which would be affected by the construction of this project. There will be meeting held to review the project with them and discuss any concerns.
4. The minimum width needed for a shared use path is 8’. A 10’ width is preferred, and typically required by VTrans.
5. Discussed the impact utility relocations could have on the timeline.
6. This project is expected to take between 4 and 6 years.

The highway committee discussed the end of Park Street in the Town.

1. This section is not on our list of town roads, and the State does not pay us for it.
2. If it not a town road, it can be gated.
3. The landowner and the road designation need to be determined so the next steps could be established.

Budget discussion will start soon, costs for upcoming needs are being researched.

Discussed winter road maintenance. The current contractor will be plowing for us again this season, and did not request and modifications to the previous agreement.
