New Public Safety Building Meeting 8-2-2021
RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
NEW PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING COMMITTEE
MONDAY AUGUST 2ND, 2021
The New Public Safety Building Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 4:00 PM on Monday August 2nd at the site of the McKinely Avenue Fire Station. Present was Board Chair Mary Ashcroft, Board Clerk Joe Denardo, Board Member Don Chioffi, Board Member Sharon Russell, Board Member John Paul Faignant, Town Fire Chief Chris Clark, Town Police Chief Ed Dumas, Town Assistant Fire Chief Larry Dellveneri, Town Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn, and Administrative Assistant Bill Sweet.
- Reviewed the parcel map to try to determine how much available land there is to build on.
- Discussed possible orientations the building could be built at on the current lot to meet all the goals.
- A retaining wall along the south side of the property would be needed to extend the parking area.
- Discussed the land adjacent to the north side of the property. A land swap would be beneficial to ease some space constraints. It is not known if the current owner would agree to this. Denardo said he would talk to the owner to see if there could be an agreement.
- Discussed what sprinkler requirements there would be for this building. Frank Cioffi was discussed as someone who could help with this. He will be contacted as well.
- The next meeting will be August 9th at 4PM at Town Hall.
The meeting adjourned at 4:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted, Bill Sweet
