RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
POLICE COMMITTEE
JUNE 18th, 2024
The Police Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 5:15 PM on Tuesday June 18th, 2024, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Chair Mary Ashcroft, Select Board Member Matt Getty, Town Police Chief Ed Dumas, and Town Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn.
Discussed funding from CFAC for an officer from the Town. Their new Executive Director has not been named yet. We will not be able to get details from them until this is done.
The statewide drug task force, narcotics unit, may have a funding opportunity for an officer as well. This could cover the entire cost of the officers’ expenses. This would be a Town Police Officer, but they would work with the State unit.
Officer Plakas and K9 Rooster will be in training from July through October.
Police Officer Antje Schermerhorn has given notice of her resignation. She has accepted a new position with another agency.
The Constables will be providing some assistance as they can, but not on a full-time basis.
The Committee went into executive session to discuss a personnel matter.
The committee came out of executive session with no action to be taken.
The meeting adjourned at 5:44 PM.
