RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
RECREATION COMMITTEE
TUESDAY OCTOBER 8th, 2024
The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 5:00 PM on Wednesday October 8th 2024, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Member Sharon Russell, Select Board Member Matt Getty, and Town Rec Director Mike Rowe.
The infield at Dewey will be replaced next week on Tuesday.
The Halloween party plans are underway. 8th graders are making the games for the event.
Discussed posting no hunting signs at Northwood Park. It has been some time since it has been done. Its not known if there are different rules for municipalities.
A Facebook page for Northwood Pool has been created. The Town social media guidelines will be added to it.
Discussed making the Rec director a full-time / maintenance position. This would need to be part of the budget planning for July 2025. Killington, Brandon and Pittsford have full-time Rec directors. Rutland City has 3. This would allow a concentration on rec programs year-round. Discussed the history of the rec commission and how it evolved to a rec director. The committee will recommend this during the budgeting process.
Discussed plans for events for the Town seniors. The group will be asked for their input.
