RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
RECREATON COMMITTEE
AUGUST 12th, 2025
The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 5:00 PM on Tuesday August 15th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Selectboard Member Sharon Russell, Town Administrator Bill Sweet, and Recreation Director Mike Rowe were present.
Discussed the draft background check policy. The copy includes comments received from VLCT.
- The policy will apply to volunteer coaches and full-time employees for the Rec Department.
- The language was updated to be consistent throughout and to ensure it meets the intention of doing the checks.
- The committee will recommend adoption of this policy to the full board.
Discussed replacing the mower at Dewey Field.
- The current mower is 10 years old and is overkill for the park.
- A quote from United Ag and Turf was reviewed. The total is $11,819 after trading in the current one.
- Discussed alternatives to purchasing a new one, including moving one from Northwood by trailer when needed.
- The committee will recommend the purchase to the full Board.
Discussed replacing the bathroom doors at Dewey Field
- 2 vendors were contacted, only 1 has provided a quote.
- The total for the quote received is $6100.
Next year, an increase in the non-resident pool pass is planned. The current cost for a family pass is $120. The new rate would be $200. The city charges $46 per person for non-residents. As of July 30th, there have been over 8500 visits to the pool.
An updated and revised capital plan is being worked on and will be ready soon.
