RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

RECREATON COMMITTEE

SEPTEMBER 16^th, 2025

The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 4:30 PM on Tuesday September 16^th,2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Selectboard Member Sharon Russell, and Recreation Director Mike Rowe were present.

Discussed the draft background check policy.

• Preliminary approval from the State for background information access has been granted.
• Additional paperwork was requested by the State and has been sent to them.

 

Discussed repairs needed to the pool.

• There is some damage to tiles in the pool.
• There is a vendor who can do the work. They will be coming by soon to look at it, with a plan to schedule repairs in the spring.
• There will be a discussion on plans and timelines to replace the pool as well.

 

Reviewed the 5-year capital update plan

• A current copy of the plan was given to committee members and reviewed.
• Discussed the plan to replace the doors at Dewey. A second vendor has not contacted Mr. Rowe yet.

 

Discussed maintenance at Dewey Field.

• The original budget was planned for 20 hours a week of work.
• After doing the maintenance work this year, Mr. Rowe is confident he can do the work within his role and should not need an additional employee.

 

Discussed the schedule Mike is working as the Rec Director, in coordination with his work at the school.  Mr. Rowe requested the compensation amount added to the budget for Dewey Field be added to his compensation.  No recommendation was discussed.

 

Discussed replacing the older mower. It will be kept for a little while longer.

 

Mr. Rowe will be working on the ice-skating rink at the school doing the setup and maintenance for it.

 

Discussed plans for the Town seniors, and budgeting.

 

The meeting adjourned at 5:32 PM.
