TOWN OF RUTLAND SPECIAL SELECT BOARD MEETING
RUTLAND TOWN PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING

- Board members present Mary Ashcroft, Sharon Russell, and Matt Getty
- Other Town officials present Fire Chief Chris Clark, Assistant Fire Chief Larry Dell Veneri, Assistant Fire Chief Mike Carlson, Police Chief Ed Dumas, Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn, Town Administrator Bill Sweet, Public Safety Building Clerk John Paul Faignant
Town Officials were given a tour of the building by the building clerk.
Aspects of the building were highlighted and explained to Board members.
There are items which will be needed but are not included in the cost of construction. The preliminary list of items identified during the visit are:
- Kitchen appliances, cabinets and countertops.
- Desks and filing cabinets for the fire department offices
- Office chairs
- Lockers for police officers
- Cascade system for filling SCBA bottles
- Firefighter gear extractor and dryer
- Portable cots
- Eye wash station
- Shelves for the police evidence room
- Appliances for the patrol room
- Servers for the police and fire departments, and related hardware
The building clerk will take photos and / or videos of the interior of the building under construction to identify the location of items which will be in the wall if there are any issues in the future.
Discussed the slope on the east side. It is not known what the architect had in mind. Discussed planting a pollinator garden with shrubs and trees. The Natural Resource Conservation District sale in the spring.
A barrier at the top of the slope will be installed. Additional work was authorized to help create more parking in the back of the building.
Discussed the color of the building. It was originally bronze and red. The vendor for the bronze siding expressed concerns with it aging correctly. The color was changed to green by the architect.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 PM.
