TOWN OF RUTLAND SELECTBOARD OPEN MEETING

RUTLAND TOWN MUNICIPAL TOWN HALL

DECEMBER 2nd, 2025

 

  • The meeting opened at 6:00 P.M. with the pledge of allegiance.
  • Board members present Mary Ashcroft, Joe Denardo, Sharon Russell, and Matt Getty
  • Members of the public present Emily Howe

Approval of Selectboard Minutes for November 18th:

Selectman Getty moved to approve the minutes.  Selectman Denardo seconded the motion. The motion carried 4 – 0.

Approval of Selectboard Minutes for November 24th:

Selectman Denardo moved to approve the minutes.  Selectman Getty seconded the motion. The motion carried 4 – 0.

Approval of Orders

Selectman Denardo moved to approve the orders. Selectman Getty seconded the motion. The motion carried 4 – 0.  

Update from the Selectboard Chair

Next Tuesday is the budget meeting, starting at 5:30PM.

Chris Clark Rutland Town Fire Chief:

  1. Recently attended the fall festival at the Town school. It was a great event.
  2. The Casella truck parade is this Friday, and we will have a truck in it.

Selectman Hathaway joined the meeting at 6:07 PM.

Ed Dumas Rutland Town Police Chief and Ted Washburn Rutland Town Deputy Police Chief

  1. Recent calls for service were provided and reviewed.
  2. Discussed the recent meeting with representatives from Walmart regarding the new store.
  3. The Police Committee met recently and approved the plan for holiday directed patrols.

Kari Clark Rutland Town Clerk and Treasurer:

  1. Nothing to report.

Mike Rowe Rutland Town Recreation Director:

  1. Basketball has started.
  2. Completed tree work at Northwood at to take care of problems.
  3. Started working on a Recreation newsletter.
  4. The ice rink at the town school has had some water put in it to get it started.
  5. Senior dinner is on the 16th at the Town school.
  6. The rec committee met recently, and the budget is largely done.
  7. Discussed repairs needed to the large tractor. The dealer has options to possibly reduce the cost. After discussion, Selectman Denardo moved to ask the dealer to start a process offered to us to see if John Deere will cover some of the repairs under warranty as a concurrent repair process. Selectman Hathaway seconded the motion. The motion carried 5 – 0.

Mike Delehanty Town 1st Constable

  1. Reported on the progress made to clean up the property on the corner of Gleason Road and US Route 4 East. The old building has been removed.

Marcia Chioffi Rutland Town Head Lister

  1. Updated the board on some new software their office has been looking into. This software brings together several different systems we use now, and could help us with our reappraisal bidding.

Bill Sweet Town Administrator:

  1. Updated the Board on some requirements we will be subject to for our permits. This will not be able to be done in house. The are some vendors who offer this kind of service and work to find the best one for us has started.

Selectman Hathaway moved to enter executive session to discuss potential litigation. Selectman Denardo seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The Board entered executive session at 6:43 PM.

Upon leaving executive session, with no action being taken, Selectman Hathaway moved to adjourn. Selectman Denardo seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 PM.
