NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF THE SHORT-TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE
On February 27th, 2024, the Select Board of the Town of Rutland, Vermont, adopted the Short-Term Rental Ordinance pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1972. This notice is published pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1972 to inform the public of this adoption and of the citizens’ right to petition for a vote to disapprove this ordinance.
The ordinance establishes operating guidelines for dwelling units operating as Short-Term Rentals.
The Town of Rutland Short-Term Rental Ordinance is organized as follows:

CITIZENS’ RIGHT TO PETITION FOR VOTE
Pursuant to 24 V.S.A. §1973, the voters of the Town of Rutland have the right to petition for a town vote on the question of disapproving the Storm Water Ordinance (“voter petition”). In accordance with 24 V.S.A. §1973(b) the voter petition must be signed by not less than five percent (5%) of the qualified voters of the Town of Rutland and presented to the Town of Rutland Select Board or to the Town Clerk no later than April 11, 2024, which is 44 days following the date of adoption.
Unless a petition requesting a vote is filed pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1973, the Short-Term Rental Ordinance shall become effective sixty (60) days from the date of said adoption.
