McKinley Avenue Sewer Pump Station Emergency Generator Connection

Dear Contractor:

The Town of Rutland is seeking sealed bids from qualified and licensed electrical contractors to furnish all labor, equipment, materials, and related services necessary to connect the Town’s sewer pumping station located on McKinley Avenue to the standby generator serving the Rutland Town Public Safety Building.

Project Description

The purpose of this project is to provide emergency backup power to the McKinley Avenue sewer pump station in the event of a commercial power outage. The selected contractor shall provide all work necessary to establish a reliable electrical connection between the sewer pump station and the Public Safety Building standby generator system. This project may be completed in 2026 but must be completed by May of 2027.

The project is anticipated to include, but may not be limited to:

  • Installation of approximately 450 linear feet of underground conduit between the Public Safety Building and the sewer pump station.
  • Installation of required conductors and associated electrical components.
  • Excavation, trenching, bedding, backfilling, and site restoration.
  • Connection to the existing standby generator system and sewer pump station electrical infrastructure.
  • Electrical testing and commissioning.
  • Coordination with Town staff throughout the project.
  • Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations.

Contractor Qualifications

Bidders must:

  • Hold a current Electrician license.
  • Carry all required insurance.
  • Preferred experience with municipal, utility, generator, or similar electrical infrastructure projects.

Bid Submission Requirements

Bids shall include:

  1. Company name, address, and contact information.
  2. Description of proposed approach and equipment.
  3. Lump-sum project cost.
  4. Estimated project schedule and completion timeline.
  5. Proof of licensure and insurance.

Site Visit

Interested contractors are encouraged to visit the site prior to submitting a bid. Site visits may be arranged by contacting the Town Administrator.

Sealed bids shall be submitted no later than 12PM on November 13th, 2026 to:

Bids will be publicly opened and reviewed in accordance with Town purchasing procedures.

Award of Contract

The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of the Town. Selection will be based on qualifications, experience, project approach, cost, and ability to complete the work in a timely manner.
