RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

FIRE COMMITTEE

OCTOBER 27^th, 2025

The Fire Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 4:00 PM on Tuesday October 27^th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present were Selectboard Chair Mary Ashcroft, Selectboard Member Kurt Hathaway, Town Fire Chief Chris Clark, Town Assistant Fire Chief Larry Dell Veneri , Town Assistant Fire Chief Mike Carlson, and Fire Department member Kevin Gustafson

The committee reviewed the updated draft of the bylaws.

1. The new approach greatly reduces the size and scope of the document. Policies, procedures and guidelines are being created which will be referenced by this document. This approach will make the document, and the department, easier to manage.
2. Discussed under what authority the department was established. This will be researched.
3. Discussed if the department is subject to the state open meeting law requirements. This will be investigated.

The committee reviewed the draft budget proposal.

1. There were no substantial changes to this proposed budget.
2. Compensation numbers were not included. The Board needs to discuss what the changes will be for next year.

Discussed when the next truck will need to be replaced, and the depreciation account.  There is a spreadsheet with the replacement schedule and projected costs to come from depreciation, but it was not available to review at the meeting.

Discussed the list of equipment and assets.

Discussed where vehicle information is stored.

Discussed updates to applicable policies and ordinances

Discussed the generators at the two fire stations.

The meeting adjourned at 5:09 PM.
