RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING
HIGHWAY AND WATER / SEWER COMMITTEE
WEDNESDAY JUNE 22nd, 2022
The Highway and Water / Sewer Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 9:00AM on Wednesday June 22nd, 2022, at the Post Road water line extension project site. Present was Selectboard Chairman Don Chioffi, Selectboard Member Joe Denardo, Selectboard Member Mary Ashcroft, Selectboard Member Kurt Hathaway, Road Commissioner Dave Sears, Road Crew Member Walter Tripp, Town Administrator Bill Sweet, Robert Clark, and Jeff Mangini from Otter Creek Engineering, Jack Bowen from Bowen Excavating and Rob and Tracey Stubbins.
- The committee met to review the progress on the water line extension.
- The scope of the project was reviewed, and it is nearly complete.
- The last section of the line needs to be tied into the existing water line. Permission is needed from the City of Rutland to temporarily shut the line down to install a new shut off valve and test the lines.
- Discussed the swale that existed prior to the construction of the line. It will need to be reinstalled to properly manage stormwater runoff.
- Discussed the restoration of driveways and drainage with the contractor. The area will be restored as closely as possible to its original state.
- The sidewalk project is planned to go through a similar route to the one that is being worked on right now.
- Each homeowner is responsible for hiring a contractor to make the connection from the curb stop to their house.
- A water connection request will need to be completed by each resident wanting to connect and brought to Town Hall.
- Residents on the existing line will be given 24 hours’ notice prior to water being disconnected.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 AM.
Respectfully submitted, Bill Sweet
