TOWN OF RUTLAND PLANNING COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
DATE: January 30th, 2026
LOCATION: Town Hall and a publicly accessible conference line
OPEN MEETING 6:30 P.M.
Commission Members Present: Chair Barbara Pulling, Dana Peterson, Howard Burgess, Sherman Hunter, Jerry Stearns, Mary Beth Poli, Norm Cohen, and Demetrio Gagnon. Mr. Gagnon is a non-voting member for this meeting.
Members of the Public Present: None
Approval of the Agenda:
Mr. Peterson moved to approve the agenda. Ms. Poli seconded the motion. The conversation regarding Walmart will be removed from the agenda since they are not ready. The motion passed unanimously.
New Business: Annual election of Planning Commission Officers
- For Planning Commission Chair, Mr. Hunter nominated Ms. Pulling. Mr. Stearns seconded the nomination. Mr. Stearns nominated Mr. Peterson for Vice Chair. Mr. Hunter seconded the nomination. There were no other nominations. The nominations received unanimous approval.
Old Business: Pocket Park Update – meeting with Vermont tribes
- Reported on some meetings GMP has had with federal regulators and Town officials.
- An engineer is being retained to help with planning and design work.
- Discussed some of the funding options for the project including grant and Town funds.
- Local tribes have been invited to the February 19th
- Discussed what other groups would like to contribute, what information should be on the kiosk and how to best display it.
Announcements
Reported on the recent pre-town meeting. There were no questions on our budget
Approval of Minutes January 8th, 2025:
Mr. Peterson moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Hunter seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Peterson moved to adjourn. Mr. Stearns seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:32 PM.
