RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

RECREATION COMMITTEE

TUESDAY OCTOBER 24^th, 2023

The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 5:00 PM on Tuesday October 24^th, 2023, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Member Sharon Russell, Select Board Member Matt Getty, Town Rec Director Mike Rowe, and Town Administrator Bill Sweet.

1. Discussed the possibility of establishing a dog park at Northwood Park. Future plans cannot be decided until ownership of school and town owned land is worked out.
2. Discussed options for replacing the pool in the future, building a new pool versus rehabbing the existing one. No decision was made.
3. Discussed budget items for the next fiscal year. The overall proposed budget is up approximately 3%.
4. Discussed the policy for allowing students who attend schools other than Rutland Town to join Rutland Town teams.
   1. There had been an unwritten policy and understanding between area coaches and rec directors that students play for teams within their school, unless their school does not offer a particular program, then they could seek permission from another school to participate in their program.
   2. The committee will recommend adopting the policy as it is stated on the Town sign up form now.

The meeting adjourned at 5:48 PM.
