RUTLAND TOWN SELECTBOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

RECREATON COMMITTEE

JULY 15^th, 2025

The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Selectboard met at 5:00 PM on Tuesday July 15^th, 2025, at the Municipal Town Hall. Selectboard Chair Mary Ashcroft, Selectboard Member Matt Getty, Selectboard Member Sharon Russell, Town Administrator Bill Sweet, Town Deputy Police Chief Ted Washburn, and Recreation Director Mike Rowe were present.

Discussed plans for the Town Wide Celebration

• The food has been ordered
• A list of organizations attending was given to committee members.
• A DJ was not available this year, the Aaron Audet band is playing at the event.

 

Discussed improvements for the parks

• The bathroom doors at Dewey Field need to be replaced. We have one quote, we need another.
• Additional signs are coming for the shared use path.

 

Discussed options for running background checks for volunteer coaches

• Examples of forms used by other agencies were reviewed, as well as a draft policy.
• Reviewed the forms and the policy to ensure it accomplishes what we need
• Updates were made. Final drafts to the policy and forms will be created and made available for Board members at the next meeting for review and approval.

Discussed how to handle the checking account for the Town seniors.

• There is close to $5000 in the account.
• Appropriations from past budgets may have been put into this account.
• Different options for how to handle it were discussed.
• The auditor will be asked for a recommendation.

 

The meeting adjourned at 5:50 PM.
