TOWN OF RUTLAND SELECTBOARD OPEN MEETING

The meeting opened at 5:10 P.M.
- Board members present Mary Ashcroft, Sharon Russell, and Matt Getty
The purpose of the special meeting is to set the tax rate.
A tax calculation worksheet was provided and reviewed by Town Treasurer Kari Clark. It includes all appropriations and increases to the depreciation account approved by voters.
Funds for payments to the Center Rutland Fire Station bond are allocated into 2027. Funds for interest and principal payments for the public safety building bond will be needed and are included in the calculations.
An exemption for taxes for disabled veterans is included.
The total amount to be raised by taxes this year is $13,327,372.99.
The homestead tax rate decreased by 7.46 and the non-homestead tax rate decreased by 4.41 due to the grand list increasing over last year, and a decrease in the education tax rate.
Selectman Getty moved to approve the tax rate proposed by the Town Clerk on the sheets provided of a homestead tax rate of 1.6501 and a non-homestead tax rate of 1.9638. Selectwoman Russell seconded the motion. The motion passed 3 – 0.
The tax bills will be printed on July 31st.
Selectman Getty moved to adjourn. Selectwoman Russell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 5:28 PM.
