RUTLAND TOWN SELECT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING

RECREATION COMMITTEE

TUESDAY AUGUST 1^st, 2023

The Recreation Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 5:00 PM on Tuesday August 1^st, 2023, at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Select Board Member Matt Getty, Select Board Chair Mary Ashcroft, Select Board Member Kurt Hathaway, Recreation Director Mike Rowe, and Town Administrator Bill Sweet.

1. The committee discussed creating a plaque recognizing the contribution of various boards and individuals who contributed to the creation of Northwood Park. Wording for the plaque has been started but not finalized. The goal is to have it created and in place for unveiling at the 2023 Town Wide celebration.
2. The back nine for disc golf is ready to play now. Some details still need to be finished but the course is ready.
3. New signs for the trails were made and most have been installed.
4. There is some trail work which needs to be done. There was some minor damage due to the rainstorms.
5. The new stone bench is at the park in front of the pool.
6. The bike trail construction has started.
7. The last day the pool will be open is August 26^th.
8. Discussed plans for the Town Wide Celebration. Many of the plans are in place. A committee meeting should be planned soon to cover any final needs.
9. Discussed planting wildflowers near the entrance to the park. There is support for this but more details, including who would manage them, would need to be determined.

The meeting adjourned at 5:30 PM.
