TOWN OF RUTLAND SELECT BOARD OPEN MEETING

This meeting had a virtual attendance option available for anyone to join.
- The special meeting started at 5:30 P.M.
- Board members present Mary Ashcroft, Joe Denardo, Kurt Hathaway, and Matt Getty
- Also present, Town Clerk and Treasurer Kari Clark
The purpose of this meeting is to set the tax rate for the coming year.
A calculation worksheet was provided to the Board members. Information comes from a variety of sources including our Listers office and State figures.
The homestead total tax rate is up 1.89% and the non-homestead total tax rate is up 6.95% over last year.
Discussed bond payments for the Center Rutland Fire Station and planning payments for the new Public Safety Building. There are funds available to make approximately 3 years of payments on the Center Rutland Fire Station Bond.
At the close of the last fiscal year, the funds carried over into the Capital Improvement fund equaled approximately $370,000. This does not include any non-tax funds received separately which support the additional police work. Bank interest and additional 1% Local Option Tax revenue were the largest contributors to the carry over funds.
There was extensive discussion on payments for the Public Safety Building costs. No decision was made and no action was taken.
Selectman Denardo moved to set the tax rate as presented. Selectman Hathaway seconded the motion. The motion passed 4 – 0.
The meeting adjourned at 6:03PM.
