Building Committee 11-15-18




The Building Committee of the Rutland Town Select Board met at 9:00 AM on Thursday, November 15th at the Municipal Town Hall. Present was Board Clerk Mary Ashcroft, Board member Joe Denardo, Town Clerk & Treasurer Kirsten Hathaway, Architect Dan Pratt firm of Robert Carl Williams Associates, and Board Administrative Assistant Bill Sweet.

  • Discussion of remodel of clerks office with Dan Pratt.
    1. RCWA can help with creating an RFP in consult with VLCT if we choose to hire them. The cost for this process could range from $1100 to $1700.
    2. This would cover the selection of an architect to develop guidelines for the project. Those would then be used to create a bid process for contractors.
    3. Pratt asked if we had existing as remodeled drawings for the clerks office. Kirsten will do research to see if the can be found. Having them could save up to 15 hours of additional work.
    4. Drawings and specifications will need to be created
    5. Pratt estimated the project cost between $80,000 and $100,000 plus architect and planning costs
    6. Discussion of assigning preferred vendor status to RCWA
    7. Discussion of feasibility to get a line item for project costs on the ballot for March 2019 and other possible funding sources.
    8. Discussion of having informational items available for handout and review at tax time & pre town meeting and costs associated with it
    9. Pratt said he would prefer 1 person as a point of contact/ liaison for the project.
  • Discussion of budget needs for FY 2019
    1. Town hall monument work
      1. Review of estimates received in 2017
    2. Discussion of other monuments and designs proposed previously
    3. Reviewed proposed costs for office remodel and costs needed to add to budget

There being no other business the meeting adjourned at 10:15 AM.
